“Mikey!”
Being a kid named Mike when that stupid Life Cereal commercial “Let’s get Mikey! He wont eat it. He hates everything” was around sucked.
God forbid I did not like something during a meal….”Mike hates everything” would always be the comment.
Can I tell you everyone at some-point has called me “Mikey” and ONLY because of that commercial. To this day, people still reference that damn “Mikey” commercial. That commercial has to be one of the most remembered commercials of all time…
And I hated, hated, hated and hate when ANYONE calls me “Mikey” ~ anyone except my Dad. He was the only one who could call me that and it did not bother me. He’d drag out the “Y” ~ “Mike-eeeee” and he’d always have a huge smile when he said it. Maybe it was just the way he called me it or because I think it had nothing to do with the commercial or because it was him. I’m not sure he ever saw the commercial or if he did that he’d even remember it. I actually liked it a lot when he called me Mikey!
Today would have been my Dad’s 75th birthday (he passed away 12 years ago). I miss him a lot & I really wish he was around to call me “Mikey” and to give me one of his big laughs ~
